ReadKick Terms of Use (End User License Agreement)

Last updated: 27 October 2026

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Aleksei Prokhorov, a private individual based in Spain, who operates ReadKick ("we", "us"). They apply to the ReadKick mobile app for iOS and Android, the ReadKick website and the ReadKick server (together, the "Service"). These Terms also serve as the End User License Agreement (EULA) for the app.

By downloading, installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy, available at https://readkick.app/privacy, explains how we process personal data.

1. The Service

ReadKick helps you learn English and Spanish by reading. It includes a catalog of books, stories and dialogues, a reader that lets you tap words and see translations, a personal dictionary, word training, recorded narration and read-aloud with your device's voice, AI explanations and translations, import of your own books, articles and texts, and sync of your learning data between devices.

2. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using it you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you can enter into a binding agreement. You may use the Service only for your own personal, non-commercial learning.

3. Your account

4. Free plan and Premium

Free plan. The free plan currently includes, each calendar month: 3 catalog books (a book you have opened stays available to you), 10 AI word explanations, 10 AI sentence translations, and 1 imported book, 1 article and 1 text of your own. Other features may also be limited.

ReadKick Premium removes the monthly limits on catalog books and on your own books, articles and texts and gives you more AI requests. AI requests in Premium are subject to a fair-use limit of 500 requests per day to protect the Service against automated abuse.

We may change the content and limits of the free plan and add, change or remove features of the Service. If we make a change that materially reduces what you have already paid for during your current Premium period, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel; where the law requires it, we will refund the unused part of the period that you have paid for. This does not limit your statutory rights.

5. Subscriptions, payment and automatic renewal

Right of withdrawal in the EU, EEA and UK. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you generally have the right to withdraw from a contract for digital content or digital services within 14 days without giving a reason. Because Premium is provided immediately, when you start a paid subscription (including when a free trial converts into a paid subscription) you expressly request that we start providing Premium immediately, within the withdrawal period. For digital content that is supplied immediately, you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the supply has begun. For the service part of Premium, if you withdraw, you may have to pay an amount proportionate to what was provided until you told us that you withdraw, as permitted by law. You can exercise any right of withdrawal through the store (Apple or Google) or by sending us a clear statement at support@readkick.app. During a free trial you can always cancel at no cost. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights.

6. AI features

ReadKick uses artificial intelligence (large language models provided by third parties) to generate explanations of words, translations of sentences and translations of selected passages. AI answers are generated automatically and are labelled as AI answers in the app.

7. Your own content

You can import books, articles and texts into the app ("Your Content"). Your Content is stored on your device and is not uploaded to our server. Words, example sentences, notes and highlighted passages you save, and passages you send to AI features, are processed by the Service as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Catalog content and intellectual property

The books and stories in the catalog are public-domain works (prepared from sources such as Standard Ebooks, Project Gutenberg and Wikisource) or original ReadKick content. The app, its design, software, original stories, dialogues, narration, translations, dictionary data, illustrations and trademarks belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and the catalog content for your own non-commercial learning, in accordance with these Terms and the rules of the store from which you downloaded the app. You may not copy, extract, scrape, redistribute, sell or make publicly available the catalog, the narration, the dictionary data or AI answers, except as allowed by law or by the licence of a public-domain text itself.

Copyright complaints. If you believe that content in the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to support@readkick.app with: (a) your name and contact details; (b) identification of the work you claim is infringed; (c) where the content is in the app (for example the book title and chapter); (d) a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder or the law; (e) a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We will review the notice promptly and remove or disable access to content where appropriate.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account, or limit access to features, if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you the chance to fix the problem. If we close your account without your fault, we will refund the unused part of a prepaid subscription period where the law requires it. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 8, 11, 12 and 13) survive termination.

11. Availability and disclaimers

We work to keep the Service available and useful, but we provide it as it is and as available. We do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, that every book, translation, dictionary entry, audio file or AI answer will be accurate, or that the Service will meet a particular learning goal. Some features need an internet connection. We may carry out maintenance and updates that temporarily affect the Service.

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights if the Service, including Premium, does not conform to the contract, under Directive (EU) 2019/770 and the Spanish consumer protection law (Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007, TRLGDCU) or the law of your country. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.

12. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, in particular under EU and Spanish consumer protection law. This includes liability for intent and gross negligence, for death or personal injury, for fraud, and your statutory rights regarding non-conforming digital content and services.

Subject to the previous paragraph, and to the extent permitted by law: we are liable for slight negligence only if we breach an essential contractual obligation, and then only for the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract; and we are not liable for loss caused by your breach of these Terms, by your devices or internet connection, or by events beyond our reasonable control. If you use the Service for purposes other than personal use, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you have your habitual residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of the place where you live. We encourage you to contact us first at support@readkick.app so we can try to resolve any issue.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when we change the Service or when the law changes. We will publish the new version with a new date and, for material changes, inform you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is required sooner by law or to address security risks. If you do not agree to the changes, you may stop using the Service, delete your account and cancel your subscription before they take effect.

15. App Store terms

If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, the following also applies:

16. Google Play

If you downloaded the app from Google Play, your purchases are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play's refund policies. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app.
